Obituary of Douglas Charles Edward ‘Doug’ Day

DAY: Douglas Charles Edward ‘Doug’ A resident of Chatham, Doug Day passed away at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the age of 88. Surviving are his wife Kathryn (Wieringa), 3 sons and daughters-in-law and 7 grandsons. Bob, Larisa, Zarley and Jamieson of Edmonton; Bill, Marty, Matthew, Mark and Brett of London; and Ron, Catherine, Travis and Garret of Chatham. Predeceased by his sisters Norma Day and Verroll Marier (Jack) and brothers Bert (Dorothy) and Ross. Nephew Ken (Pam) and niece Norma Marier have fond memories of Uncle Doug. Doug was a retiree of the Chatham Recreation Department. Doug served in the Canadian Navy in WW2, played recreational basketball and along with brother, Ross Day, coached Minor Baseball. In later years Doug enjoyed golf and bowling. Doug was a tireless fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers and Lions. There will be no funeral or visitation.
