Obituary of May Eileen Luther

LUTHER: May Eileen (nee Cudney) - A resident of Ridgetown, May Luther passed away at the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown with her family at her side on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the age of 86. Born at home, on the farm in Harwich Township, May was the daughter of the late Grover and Amy (Humphrey) Cudney. May attended elementary school and high school in Blenheim, and after her grade 13 graduation, she attended London Normal School to become a teacher. She taught at a number of public elementary schools, including: Essex, the Clark School House, (near Ridgetown), and W.J. Baird School in Blenheim. She was engaged on October 31, 1952 to Bob Luther of Ridgetown with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. He predeceased her in 2007. Loving mother of Jeff Luther (Debra) of Ridgetown and Joan Johnston (Larry Garside) of Highgate. Proud grandmother of James Johnston (Alyssa) of Chatham. Great grandmother Blake Alexandra Johnston. Treasured sister of Irma Lobbestael and her twin sister Fay Heatherington, both of Blenheim. Predeceased by her siblings Gerald Cudney, Evelyn McDougall, Monta Cudney, Ralph Cudney, Wilbur Cudney and Zelma Cudney, as well as her infant children Robert Paul and Margaret Elaine. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. May thoroughly enjoyed her time with family and friends at the Circle L Cottage on Lake Kawigamog at Lost Channel. She was active at the Emmanuel Congregational Church and loved baking, cooking, fishing and car rides to Rondeau. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Congregational Church, 92 Erie Street North, Ridgetown at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 with Rev. Tim Lukings officiating. Interment to follow at Duart Cemetery. Donations made in memory of May to the "Resident Council" at the Village on the Ridge would be appreciated.
