Ma Tante was a wonderful great and super nice tante she was always there to help my family when we needed it. She was so much fun to visit, talk or just to hang with. She would always teach me new things about art and techniques I remember one time I was at her house while my parents had to go somewhere and she took out some paint brushes and watercolours and we painted together while my brother and Ben and Aleks played all afternoon. Family and friends will miss her lots but I will always remember that she will still be with me wherever I go and she will love me forever.

I had Mlle. Vanden Enden in Senior Kindergarten at John Uyen, then Mme. Sekarak in Grade 1. She was always one of my most beloved teachers. I have a several vivid memories of her, and like many 5 year old kids, she was like my second mother. One of my favorite memories was when she came back as Mme. Sekerak and told the class about how in love she was, and how beautiful and special finding your true love is.
At the time, she reminded me of a Disney princess who had found her prince, and she seemed to float around the classroom for the whole year I had her. Most of the other girls were so grossed out because we knew all the boys in our class had an intense case of cooties, but she was just glowing. I'm not sure why I remember this so vividly, but I think about it often. I thought about her on my own wedding day, and I wish she could have known that she had such a profound affect on so many people's lives- even 19+ years later and thousands of miles away.

We reconnected in Scripture Study this past winter and I was so thrilled to see her again. Most of all I was honoured when she called and asked me to come to hospital and pray with her on Holy Thursday morning. Words can not simply express how l felt when l heard the news Chantelle had passed away. My thought and prayers are with you Jim, and the boys Ben, Aleks and the entire family. We were so fortunate to have had her teach our boy Austin and Dylan. Our boys loved her as a teacher and she was so respected in the teaching field... and how could she not be!! One memory that stands out for me is, we were at the year end concert at Monsignor Uyen l believe and Chantelle was in the library before hand. I stopped to talk to her and ask how she was. We spoke briefly about her and she as usual she asked about Dylan..WOW... than suddenly a small group of students saw her and came running..some started to cry asking her when she would return..the love in her eyes for those kids was amazing. She always had a smile and a kind word to say whenever you saw her. l am so glad we had the opportunity to met her and even though she was going through this ordeal to fight this terrible disease she would always take the time whenever she saw my mom (at walmart) to ask about how our son Dylan was doing...she was so so caring of all her students. Not a day went by that we couldn't see just how important her students were to her and for our family we will be eternally grateful for the guidance she gave our sons when she taught them both... Heaven has definitely gain an angel... one who can now not only look after her own family from above but all the kids she has taught in her 21 year career... my sincere condolences to you and your family Jim

My sympathy to Chantelle's entire family. Two of my children had the privilege of having Chantelle as a teacher at Monsignor Uyen School. She was always gentle and kind with them and we enjoyed some good conversations. I also work at CKHA in the DI dept and have seen Chantelle over the past little while and she still would smile and say hi even on her bad days. May the upcoming days allow you to remember the person she was and celebrate her life.

Dear Jim,Ben and Aleks,
I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful wife and mother. I was truly blessed to have met Chantelle 20 years ago. I was transferred to John Uyen to teach Senior Kindergarten and that's where our beautiful friendship began.
Even though I lived in Windsor and finally got a job closer to home we never let the distance get in our way. We made every effort to get together for dinner and always dessert.
Chantelle's face lit up every time she spoke of you Jim and she adored her boys so much.
Our last lunch date was in the summer where she was so positive and brave.
I am truly going to miss our dinners,chit chats and texts. Every time I text her to see how she was feeling she was working in her garden.
I hope all of the memories you have made will help you through this difficult time.
