Obituary of Thomas William O'Bee

Thomas (Tom) William O'Bee, 1924 - 2016 A long-time resident of Chatham, Thomas O'Bee passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27 at St Andrew's Residence in his 92nd year. He is survived by his sons Michael (Lorraine) and Peter (Cathy), and by his grandchildren, Kelsey, Patrick, Corey and Thomas. Tom was predeceased by his wife Barbara. Also fondly remembered by dear friend Mary Case. Tom proudly and bravely served as a flight officer with the Air Force during the Second World and Korean Wars. In 1944, he was wounded during his time on the front line. Following the wars, he continued to serve with the RCAF until his honourable discharge 1966. He then moved his family to Chatham where he worked for 25 years, as a well respected teacher and Technical Director at John McGregor Secondary School. Following retirement, Tom enjoyed traveling through Latin America and Europe and was active in golf and other social clubs in Chatham. Tom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chatham. Our heartfelt thanks to his caregivers at St Andrew's Residence. In keeping with his wishes, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place. A private Remembrance will be held later this summer at the National Military Cemetery in Ottawa.
