Obituary of Gordon Grenville Pickering

Pickering, Gordon Grenville – of McKays Corners, passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Monday July 11, 2016 with his family by his side in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Lena (nee Osborne). Father of son Jack and his wife Nancy of McKays Corners, daughter Anne and husband Jim Duffy of Sombra and daughter-in-law Beth Pickering of Komoka. Grandfather of Donna (Wayne) Rumble, Jackie, Julie, Derek (Sara); Debbie Vandenhende (Brian Campbell) Alyssa and Kendra; John (Carmon) Pickering, Austin, Carter, Everett; Denise (Steve) Ladd, McKenna, and Grayson; David (Margaret) Pickering, Kyle and Samantha; Becky (Scott) Turner, Lauren, Rachel; Randy (Christy) Duffy, Mya, Liam, Cole; Ryan (Sandy) Duffy, Abby, Chloe, Samuel; Gordon (Stacey) Duffy, Tyler and Kara; and Lisa (Ben) Vanderveeken, Casey, Jesse, and Daynen. Brother of Evelyn (late Gordon) Warriner of Blenheim, his sisters-in-law Gertrude (late Leonard) Pickering of McKays Corners, Bea (late Gordon) Osborne of Florence, and Kathy and husband Bert Huiting of Tilbury. Predeceased by his son Donald, parents Warren and Florence (nee Moore) Pickering, sisters Ella (late Gordon) Brooks, Vera (late Blake) Galloway, brother Leonard and infant grandson Jamie Pickering. Gord farmed in Harwich Township all his life. He was actively involved in the Masonic Temple in Blenheim for over 60 years. He and his wife Lena were members of Zion United Church and recently celebrated 77 years of marriage. Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park St., Blenheim, Ontario on Wednesday July 13, 2016 from 5-8pm. A Masonic Service will be conducted by the Offices of the Masonic Temple 274 Blenheim at 8pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 11am, Officiated by Rev. Wanda Burse.
