Obituary of Margaret 'Marg' Chittim

CHITTIM: Margaret Isabel (nee Thomas) - With much sadness, we announce the passing of Marg Chittim. She was a resident of the Village on the Ridge, and formerly of 9th Line Raleigh. Marg passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham Campus on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the age of 89. Born in Chatham on December 19, 1926, Marg was the daughter of the late Alfred and Vada (Pickering) Thomas. Beloved wife of 68 years to the late James 'Jim' Chittim (2014). Loving mother of Jayne and Bill Park of Chatham, Marcia and Richard Parker of Oshawa, Ken and Bonnie Chittim of Chatham, and a late infant son Thomas Mark (1949). Cherished grandmother of Matt Park and Jee Young Son, Ryan and Christina Park, Karen Park and Guillaume Michaud, Darren Park and Agnes Kurek, Krista Parker, Laura and Sven Byl, Nadine and Mark Davis, Mackenzie and Eric Allen, and Jeff Chittim. She is survived by thirteen beautiful great grandchildren Suji, Yuna, Niamh, Callum, Xavier, James, Karolina, Atticus, Spencer, Parker, Harrison, Julia, Ashlynn. Predeceased by her sister Mary Sharp (Bob). Also predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Ellen Chittim and May Trotter (Dr. Gordon), and brothers-in-law Herbert (Caroline), Robert, William, Richard (Shirley) and David (Audrey). Survived by her sister-in-law Ruth Chittim of Waterloo. Marg was active in the choir, Sunday School and U.C.W. of the former Park Street United Church and later in the U.C.W. of St. Andrew's United Church as well as the former North Harwich Assisting Society. She enjoyed community involvements. Jim and Marg enjoyed many a summer day at the family cottage in Rondeau with family and friends. Gardening, traveling and caring for her family kept her young throughout her years. Many thanks to the wonderful caregivers at the Village on the Ridge and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for their care and compassion and to Gabriella Cutler for her ongoing support. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Gabriella Cutler officiating. Interment to follow at Pardoville-Union Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Marg to the St. Andrew's United Church or Chatham-Kent Community Foundation would be appreciated.
