Obituary of Elgin Erickson

ERICKSON: Elgin - A lifetime resident of Chatham, Elgin Erickson passed away at Meadow Park Nursing Home, surrounded by his children and grandchildren on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the age of 88. Born in Chatham, Elgin was the son of the late Henry and Clara (Grainger) Erickson. Beloved husband of 67 years to Mary (nee Irwin ). Loving father of Saundra Smith of Chatham, Irwin 'Ike' Erickson of Chatham and Laurie Pateman (Jerry) of Tecumseh. Proud grandfather (Papa) of Denean Smith (John Macuda), Dana Allison Grocott (Brian Williams), Meredith Erickson, Sarah Mueller (Jonathan) and Jordan Pateman (Courtney Stowe). Great-grandfather (Papa) of Livya and Caety Macuda, Brooklynn and Aislynn Grocott and Charlotte and Henry Mueller. Dear brother of Stan Erickson of Thamesville and Bunny Apthorp of London. Predeceased by his brother Grainger Erickson and sister Arnie Holland. Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Elgin retired as the Plant Accountant at International Harvester after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Parthenon Lodge, No. 267 A.F. and A.M. and the Scottish Rite. Elgin will be remembered for his wit and charm. He was very devoted to his family and especially his wife Mary. Mary and Elgin enjoyed each other's company and were inseparable throughout their 67 years of marriage. A Memorial Service will be held for Elgin at a later date.
