Obituary of Jean Stefina

The gates of heaven opened to welcome Jean Stefina (Stepniak), 92, resident of Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock Ontario, who died peacefully on October 31, 2016. Jean was born in Warsaw Poland, daughter of the late Andrew & Stella Stepniak. Jean is predeceased by her sister Helen, and her two brothers Edward, Teddy. She is survived by brother Henry and his wife Irene. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Stefina Sr. (1998). A loving mother to Debbie Podolinsky (the late John) of London, Diana & Peter Neumann of London, and the late Joseph Stefina Jr. Grandma will be forever missed by her grandchildren Trevor Podolinsky, Susan (Andrew) Rigg, Jeff Stefina, Scott Stefina, Shannon Stefina, and great-granddaughter Olivia Grace Rigg. Jean immigrated with her family in 1936 at the age of 12. While in Canada, she met the love of her life, Joseph Stefina who she married in 1946. Together they bought a 100 acre farm in Blenheim, Ontario where she could be seen driving tractor, picking cucumbers or tomatoes while raising a family. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church following visitation at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Donations in memory of Jean to the Alzheimer Society (Oxford County) or the Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated by the family.
