Obituary of Ronald Arthur Havens
It is with great sadness, that the family of Ronald Arthur Havens, announce his peaceful passing on December 15th, 2016 after a short illness at the age of 77 surrounded by his family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Beloved husband of Jane (Whitehead) Havens and the late Nancy (Eastman) Havens (1997). He is survived by his cherished daughters - Kelly (Mike) Allen, Kris (Larry) Oulds & Nicky (Dave) Trinca. Forever remembered by his "tigers" - Brett and Katie Allen, Eric and Ally Oulds & Anna and Julia Trinca. Remembered always by Jane's children - Sean (Jennifer) Whitehead, Ryan (Jessica) Whitehead & Melanie (Greg) Czajko. As well as the next generation of "tigers" - Cameron and Madison Whitehead, Emily, Elliot and Kacey Whitehead & Ivey and Charlie Czajko.
Ron was born December 3, 1939 in Tilbury East Township. He grew up, worked and raised his family in the community of Chatham-Kent. Trained as an Engineering Technician, he worked at Siemens, Honeywell and International Harvester. In 1992, he studied and changed careers, becoming an Investment Advisor with London Life. His passion for the work was clear to over 400 clients, many of whom were life long friends. He retired in 2009, leaving him and Jane blessed to travel the world. Ron was the past President of Chatham Girls Minor Softball and the past Chair of the Heritage Credit Union. A lifelong lover of all things tennis, Ron was active in the Chatham Tennis Club for over 40 years. He served on the Board of Management of both Holy Trinity and St. Paul's Anglican Church for many years. Also survived by brothers, Ken (Julie) Havens of Collingwood and Wayne (Helen) Havens of Chatham & sister, Mary Anne Stennett of Acton. Ron will be missed by his lifelong friend, John (Jean) Case and many nieces & nephews.
Family to receive friends on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service of Ronald's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 81 Selkirk Street, Chatham with the Venerable Paul Millward officiant.
