Obituary of Eric James Cranstone

A resident of Chatham, Eric Cranstone peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in his 98th year. Born in England, Eric was the son of the late James and Edith (nee Hitchcock) Cranstone. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn Cranstone (nee Ackert) (2005). Loving father of David Cranstone and his wife Pat of Chatham, Michael Cranstone and his wife Irene of Burlington, and John (Wayne) Cranstone and his wife Bonnie of Chatham. Grandfather to 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his sister, Alma Haney (2005). After moving to Chatham in 1923, Eric called Chatham his home except the 4 years he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a life-time member of St. Andrew's United Church, an avid golfer, enjoyed watching sports on television and completing any crossword puzzle he could get his hands on. Eric lived a very active and healthy life. Family to receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until the Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. Gabriella Cutler to officiate.
