Obituary of E. Ann Burns
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Burns (nee Jones). She left us peacefully on April 22, 2017, one day short of her 71st birthday, with friends and family by her side.
Ann was a very loving and generous person who touched the lives of so many people. She was passionate about figure skating and throughout her life could be found in an arena coaching, volunteering and encouraging each and every skater. Ann lived her life fully and possessed a deep strength of character. Her spunk and feistiness were endearing. Ann loved working with children. After retiring as an elementary school teacher, she continued to dedicate her time with students who participated in the Naahii Ridge Public School breakfast program.
Ann is the beloved wife of the late Raymond Burns, O.P.P. officer and farmer, who loved John Deere tractors. Together Ann and Ray were founding members of the East Kent Vintage Tractor Club. She will be immensely missed by her daughter Tammy Robinson, son-in-law Chris Robinson and grandchildren Natalie and Alyssa Robinson, who adored her deeply. Ann is predeceased by her loving parents Tom and Quinta (nee Tonelli) Jones. She is survived by her siblings Tom (Jacquie) Jones, Mona Fields and Christina (Steven) Willenborg. Ann will be missed by her nieces and nephews T.J. Jones, Kaela (Chris) Miller, Ryan (Jamie) Jones, Karli Willenborg and Joshua Willenborg. She adored her great nieces and nephews Lynley and Lyvia Miller and Lincoln and Carter Jones. She will also be missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, who thought the world of her, and by her little dog Sophie.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Congregational Church, Erie Street North, Ridgetown at 11:00 am on Friday, April 28, 2017. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Naahii Ridge Breakfast Program, Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or P.A.W.R. program.
