Obituary of Wendy Lee Higgins

HIGGINS: Wendy Lee (nee Buchanan) -

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Wendy Higgins on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 after a lengthy illness at the age of 61. Wendy went home peacefully with her loving family by her side.

Born in Chatham, Wendy was the daughter of the late George and Donna (Broadbent) Buchanan.

Beloved wife of 41 years to Jim Higgins. Loving sister of William and the late Linda Buchanan of McGregor, Brian and Kelly Buchanan of Chatham; Cheryl and Jim Smith of R.R.#2 Kent Bridge. Cherished Nana of Adam Smith. Dear sister-in-law of Gerri Jones of Georgetown and Charles Higgins of London.

Special aunt to Janet and Chris Coulis. Loving aunt to Jaden, Brendan and Kaylin Buchanan. Always remembered by nieces and nephews, Chris and Melissa Jones, Kelly and Denise Jones, Jeffrey and Heather Higgins, Jeremy and Amy Jones and Craig Higgins. Predeceased by her father and mother-in-law Gerald and Sybil (Wright) Higgins.

Wendy had the most kindhearted, compassionate, loving, giving selfless spirit. She volunteered with the Salvation Army in many capacities over the years as well as the original VON Geranium House. She touched the hearts of everyone she met and will be greatly missed. To know Wendy was to love her.

Wendy was a hairdresser by trade.

Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 10:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am with Lt. Josh Howard and Lt. Bethany Dueck officiating. Interment to follow at Ouvry Cemetery, Dealtown. Special thanks to the staff of Medicine B for their care and compassion.
