PEET: Cornelis 'Kees' -
A resident of Chatham, Cornelis Peet was called away by the Lord, peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017, the day after his 90th birthday.
Born in Hilversum, Holland, The Netherlands, Cornelis was the son of the late Cornelis and Anna (Silfhout) Peet.
Beloved husband of 64 years to Rennie (nee Burghgraef).
Loving father of Anna Bastien (Jerry) of Windsor, Susan Peet (David Paré) of Ottawa, Charles Peet (Karen Dysarz) of Rondeau, Brian Peet of Ottawa, the late Garnet Peet (1987) (Konnie) of Grimsby, Judi Peet (Don Cameron) of Erie Beach, Chris Peet (Tatiana) of Edmonton.
Proud Opa of 12 grandchildren: Christopher Hammerton, Barry Hammerton, Casey-Anne Paré, Liam Paré, Joseph Peet, Kees Peet, Neil Peet (Benissa), Antonia Cameron (Wayne Holmes), Cassidy Cameron, Ian Cameron, Logan Smarch and Hannah Peet, 3 great-grandchildren: James Hammerton, Levi Holmes and Cedric Peet and 3 step-granddaughters: Terri Trepanier, Tonia Malott and MaryAnne Malott.
Survived by brother Geurt Peet (Helen) of Florida and sister Metti Griffioen (late Willem) of Hilversum. Predeceased by brothers Nico, Jan, Joop, Wim, Henk and sisters Corrie and Ria.
Also missed by many friends and extended family. Cornelis will be remembered for his lifelong love of painting.
Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Living Hope Free Reformed Church, 159 Gregory Drive East, Chatham at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 25, 2017 with Pastor Tim Bergsma officiating. Interment to follow at Arnold Cemetery.
