I am so sorry and shocked to hear this sad news.
Rob and I worked together in Cognos in Ottawa. In 2006, we were both new in application team in riverside compus. I didn't know how to use the gym facility and after he knew this, he helped me to register the pass and guided me to the gym after work.
Rob was a very telented and nice guy. Great partner and helper in work.

I'm really sorry to learn this very sad news. Robert joined our project team at Cognos / IBM over 10 years ago. He was very positive, intelligent and resourceful. Obviously I was in shock and didn't understand why he's gone at such a young age. Such a young, bright person full of energy. However, I believe Robert has been living his very life - full of music, creativity, and love. May he rest in peace.

Rob was a great guy, easy to talk to and fun to be around. He always knew what to say to break an awkward silence and make people around him feel comfortable with his unique sense of humor. We would often reminisce about Chris Farley, Rob's impressions were bang on! He was a fun guy to work with, I'll miss him.

I have wonderful memories of Rob. He came to my wedding and afterwards he babysat my daughter, who was three. Rob and his younger brother played with her and watched the Lambchop puppet video. She is twenty now and can still remember how they played with her and how nice he was.
I remember Rob as a handsome young man. Always a smile. So kind, gentle and polite.
I thought he was a little quiet and then I found out he had a wicked sense of humour. I laugh to this day over a comment he made while I was at the Shoemaker's house for supper.
My heart goes out to Ruth Ann, Bryan, Jana and Michael. I remember the family dinners when you gave us a home for 5 weeks,many years ago.Rob could not have been more loved.
We are better and blessed for having Rob's gracious spirit touch our lives.

I knew Rob a long time ago, about 15 years ago during my years in engineering in and around Waterloo. I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to Rob's family. Right now there's no detour around grief, no shortcut through mourning. However, 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. We recover because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, "... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our amazing hope! The Bible likens our hope to an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us, keeps us from drowning in overwhelming sadness. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort be your comfort now during this time of sorrow. Rob I can only send you a happy smile. I live in the apartment above you in Hamilton and looked forward to hearing you jam away on your guitar. Music was always your comfort. I am so very sorry for your loss. I hadn't yet had the opportunity to get to know Rob well since his time at Mohawk, but I will never forget how eager he was when facing a new problem or finding something he could solve for someone. That smile! I don't think I ever saw him without one. He is gone way too soon.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Rob when he joined our team at Mohawk. He had a truly unique personality and an infectious sense of humor. I always loved our random chats about anything ranging from music, to family, to his adventures in travel. I met Rob while he was studying Engineering at Waterloo. At first he was a roommate of a friend, but as I spent time at their shared apartment Rob and I bonded over our love of rock, playing guitar and knowledge of Moncton's 90s music scene.
My favourite memory of Rob is the time he. Thought his guitar over to my apartment for a jam. I'll be honest. I was a terrible player at that point, but Rob was really open-minded and patient and we played for hours. I specifically remember rocking out to a song called Dry The Rain from the High Fidelity soundtrack. It was the first time I'd ever jammed with anyone music-wise and Rob gave me a lot of confidence in my playing.
He was always just so kind and empathetic and positive. His laugh is also pretty unforgettable. He was a great guy and I'll always think of him every time I hear Dry the Rain.

When I got to know Rob it was during a bleak winter work term in Mississauga. My girlfriend and I were not in a good space and I was living with a guy whose main life goal was to go a full year only wearing sandals, whose cat would pick cold cuts from my groceries if I left them unattended for 5 minutes, and who was an afficianado of bootleg Spanish bull-fighting films. ‎I can't count how many times I'd escape that place, grab some McD's, and head to Rob's to listen to some music, watch flicks, listen to Howard Stern, and just laugh. He was so kind hearted and you couldn't help but relax and laugh when spending time with him. He will be missed in person but will always be present in our hearts.

I'm an old friend of Rob's. Funny - I can't really remember how we met, but he was the kind of person that it was really easy to be friends with, so I guess we just started hanging out. For me, I'll always associate Rob with his Mississauga pad with the life-sized KISS and Elvis cutouts. Maybe it was 2002? I remember driving back-and-forth between London and Toronto with (my now wife) Laura or visiting family in Mississauga and always trying to stop in at Rob's for a short respite. Usually a beer and some music. He had a Saturn that lasted until after they stopped making Saturns and he was so proud of that! The last time we saw him, he came by the house to meet the kids in 2013. He got down and played with our two boys and was just having so much fun with them. My last email to him four years ago was "Great seeing you on the weekend - hopefully we don't have to wait 4 years to do it again!" Damn. I'm going to miss his smile and his chuckle. Life is so rich and yet sometimes so harsh.
Our sincere condolences to all his family and friends. We are so very sorry for your loss. Thanks Rachel for letting us know - his whole crew of old Waterloo friends misses him a lot and regret not having him in our lives more in recent years.

Rob,
My condolences to your friends and family. I know they lost a good man, a good heart, a good soul.
I really never told you how much impact you had on me about 15 years back; but then I'm sure you did know. You mentored me and showed me the ropes when I graduated and when I was a co-op. You really helped me plant my feet firmly.
We shared our music, we jammed quite a few ties as well, and yes you even helped me through difficult times, and even a few crazy musical times at work.
