Obituary of Walter Stanley Clements

August 21, 1921 - December 3, 2017

A resident of Dover Township, Walter Clements passed away at Copper Terrace with his family at his side at the age of 96.

Born on the family farm in Dover Township, Walter was the son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth (Cameron) Clements.

Beloved husband of 53 years to the late Ruth (nee Hales) (1997). Predeceased by special friend Marion Asher (2010).

Loving father of John Clements (Dianne) of Lucknow, Helen Mardling (Brian) of Chatham and James Clements (Shelley) of Verner.

Proud grandfather of Robin Krzemein (John) of Windsor, Paul Mardling (Juls) of London, UK, Heather Meecham (Tim) of Windsor, William Clements (Diana) of Burlington and Jacqui Cottrell.

Great-grandfather to 5 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by his sister Josephine Howes (late Ray).

Walter farmed in Dover on the River Road all of his life. He was very involved with St. Thomas Anglican Church as a warden and a choir member. Walter was a member of the Parthenon Lodge A.F. and A.M #267 Chatham for over 70 years and a member of the Achom Shrine Club in Chatham. Walter enjoyed his time spent at the Tuesday Night Card Club. He was a big fan of the Toronto Bluejays, the Detroit Red Wings and the Canadian curling teams.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Masonic Service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 7, 2017 with Rev. Elaine Wilcox officiating. Private family interment to follow at St. Thomas Anglican Church Cemetery.
