Obituary of Donald Goens

Goens, Donald Remi - of Ridgetown, passed away peacefully on Friday December 29, 2017 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, age 82.

Loving Husband of Helen nee Jones for 58 years.

Beloved father of Tracy Beaton and her husband Mark of Tilbury and of the late Shirley Goens (1962).

Grandfather of Wes Beaton and friend Amber of London.

Brother of Pauline and the late Bert Bechard of Wallaceburg, Jerry and the late Anne Goens of Highgate, Richard and the late Carol Goens of Kingsville, Pat and the late Guy Jansseune of Highgate, Marjorie and the late Tim Mestenmaker of Chatham.

Brother-in-law of the late Jack (late Trudy) Roberts, late Roger (surviving Jean) Jones, Marlene (late Gary) Jewell, and Bev McVicar and friend Kevin.

Will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased also by his parents the late Andrew and Lena (nee Goethals) Goens.

Don worked for Ontario Hydro as a lineman for 35 years. He thoroughly enjoyed making wooden toys, camping, snowmobiling, gardening and spending his winters in Florida.

Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East, Ridgetown on Tuesday January 2, 2018 from 6-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday January 3 at 11am. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
