Obituary of Donald Fredrick McCutchen

McCutchen, Donald Frederick

Donald peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Friday, February 2, 2018 at CKHA-Chatham Campus at the age of 95.

Donald was born in Woodstock on July 11, 1922, and was the son of the late Alfred and Ruth (Brearley) McCutchen.

Loving husband of Avis (nee Fraser) McCutchen for more than 73 years.

Loving father of Joyce Frame (the late Malcolm) of Sarnia and Donald L. McCutchen (Marian) of Alberta.

Sadly missed by grandchildren, Calum Frame (Lana), Kirsty Klaas (Mike), Cara Heck (Bryan) and Tawnie Brook (Benjamin) and great grandchildren, Aiden Klaas and Anica Frame.

Dear brother of Ross McCutchen.

He loved his family and served his country in World War II. As a giving and sharing man, he was involved in many community activities.

He was a member/volunteer with St. Andrews United Church, Chatham Canadian Legion, member of Wellington Victory Lodge No. 46 (Masons), member of Ahcom Shrine Club and former Chatham District Scout Commissioner.

He loved working with his hands, which led to fixing and restoring clocks and assisting the instructor with the students at St. Clair College clock classes.

Don worked at Rockwell International (Ontario Steel) from 1946 until his retirement.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 1:30 p.m.- 4 p.m. at the McKinlay Reception Centre, 463 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON. Words of remembrances and memories will be shared at 2 p.m.

A private family interment occurred on February 6, 2018 at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
