Nana has gone to heaven to be with her Lord and Saviour.
A resident of Chatham, Erna peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Copper Terrace Nursing Home in her 101st year.
Erna was the daughter of the late Jacob & Helen Baumann.
Loving wife of the late Richard Charles.
Devoted mother of Wendy Fairbairn (Michael) and the late Lauchlan Wyld.
Cherished Nana to Robert Fairbairn (Christine), David Fairbairn (Destiny) & Jonathan Fairbairn.
Sister of Lydia Gauthier of Montreal & Clarence Baumann of Winnipeg.
Predeceased by her siblings, Jacob, Alex, Paul & Tina.
Erna began her nursing career as a Lieutenant Nursing Sister with the Canadian Army during WWII in the European theatre. Afterwards she continued serving and caring for her patients until she retired in 1982.
Erna will always be remembered for her spectacular gardens, her artistic pottery and paintings, and her devotion to her faith.
Family to receive friends at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 12:30 pm until a Memorial Service celebrating Erna's life at 1:30 pm. Interment in the Maple Leaf Mausoleum to follow.
Donations in memory of Erna may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, in lieu of flowers.
