Ball, James Lyle

A resident of Chatham, Lyle peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, March 19, 2018 surrounded by his family in his 90th year. 

Lyle was the son of the late James & Hazel (nee Ellis) Ball. 

Loving husband of Ruth (nee Ferguson). 

Beloved father of Rick Ball of Chatham, Leah Hanes of Los Angeles, and Tamara McAllister of Chatham. 

Grandfather (Pa) of Jason Ball (Lori), Stephen Ball, Jami Wagner (Whit), Elliott Hanes (Julia), McKenzie McAllister & Chase McAllister. 

Great-grandfather (Pa) of Rebekah Ball, Wyatt Ball, Taylor Ball, Chloe Ball, Averie Ball, Hollis Wagner & Otto Wagner.

Survived by Donna Blonde & Elaine Ross (Richard), both of Chatham. sisters-in-law, Theresa Ball (Bill Ball), Margaret Ball (Junior Ross Ball), Yvonne Ball (Murray Ball) & Jean Moir. Also survived by brother-in-law, Peter Ferguson (Evelyn)

Predeceased by his brothers & sisters, Murray Ball, Bill Ball, Junior Ross Ball, Jean Willson (Gord) & Marjorie Skipper and brothers-in-law, Ivan Northcott, Leigh Blonde and Ken Moir.

For over 50 years, Lyle enjoyed his family farm, the community and the brotherhood of his neighbors. His passion was shown in how he worked with the land and not only grew crops but nurtured his family and friends. Lyle's sense of humor always lit up a room and there is no one in the community today that has not giggled with him. He and his brotherhood were enjoying their afternoons for the last 65 years playing euchre. A Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather that will be terribly missed and we all strive to emulate.

Family to receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service in memory of Lyle will take place at 11:00 am on Friday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Aarssen as officiant. Private family interment to take place at a later date in Maple Leaf Cemetery. 

Donations in memory of Lyle may be made to Outreach for Hunger or New St. Andrews Memorial Fund.
