Obituary of John Myrrl Cornelius

CORNELIUS: John Myrrl -

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a good man, John Cornelius, who died suddenly on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the age of 69. 

John was the son of the late Myrrl and Ethel (Lucas) Cornelius of Chatham. 

Beloved husband of Sue Cornelius (Birkby) for 48 years. Loving father of Katherin and her husband Toby O'Hara of London, Joanne and her husband Neal Bach of Etobicoke and Mark Cornelius and his wife Sue (Cartier) of Tampa Bay, Florida. 

Cherished grandfather to Guen, Finn, Grady and Bridget O'Hara, Jesslyn, Laura and Vivian Bach and Clara, Gracie and Anna Cornelius. 

John will be sadly missed by his siblings, John and Ruth Kerr of Zambia, Bob and Pam Cornelius of Newmarket and Joy Cornelius and Tom Blackburn of Peterborough. 

Brother-in-law to Dave and Sherry Birkby of Calgary, Allan and Carolyn Birkby of Chatham, Eileen Birkby and Mark Heatherington of Chatham and John and Jennifer Birkby of Dunnville. 

John was an active member at Evangel Community Church and he recently retired from Loads of Love where he spent the last 13 years as a dedicated volunteer. He also spent time in Kitwe, Zambia to help in the building of the Trans Africa Theological College (TTC). 

At his request, cremation has taken place with an interment to be held at a later date. 
Visitation will be held at McKinlay Reception Centre, 463 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Evangel Community Church, 76 Sandys Street, Chatham at 11:00am on Thursday, April 26, 2018 with Rev. Chris Couper and Rev. John Kerr officiating. 
In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of John to Loads of Love would be appreciated.
