Sanderson, Mary (nee George)
A resident of Chatham, Mary Sanderson passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham Campus with her family by her side in her 91st year.
Beloved wife of the late Dr. A. Robert (Bob) Sanderson (1999).
Loving mother of George Sanderson (Cathy) of Chatham, Joan Hackett (Jim) of Chatham & John Sanderson of Windsor.
Grandmother of Elaine, Mark & Heather Sanderson, Jeff & Jesse Hackett and Rob & Dawnna Sanderson.
Great-grandmother of Quinn Hackett.
Sister of the late Margaret Bresolin (2017), Ted George (Gail) & Cathy Joslin (Barry).
Missed by many nieces & nephews.
Fondly remembered by Marilou Sanderson, Brandon Straatman & Danielle Ouellette.
Mary's family moved to Toronto in 1930 where Mary attended Whitney Pubic School, Jarvis Collegiate & University of Toronto Extension. She graduated with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy in 1949. After graduation, she moved to London, and worked at Beck Memorial Sanatorium for four years where she met Dr. Sanderson and married in 1954. Her & Bob moved to Chatham where Dr. Sanderson established his practice and raised a family. Working as an Occupational Therapist in Chatham for several years before leaving to raise her family. After raising her children, she worked alongside Dr. Sanderson and formed her own management company.
Mary loved her family dearly. They had many happy years together enjoying their cottage in Red Bay on Lake Huron and their friends and companions over the years in Chatham. Bob & Mary loved to travel and developed many dear friends overseas. She continued to travel to England & Germany into her 85th year.
Family to receive friends on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Burial in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Mary may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
