Obituary of Ronny "Ron" Lee Atkinson
Atkinson, Ronny Lee
Ron, a lifelong resident of Merlin and Navistar retiree, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at his home at the age of 64.
Ron raced for years at South Buxton and Ridge Raceways (later inducted in to the Hall of Fame for South Buxton), and was widely regarded as a true gentleman on and off of the track.
Born in Chatham and the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Anderson) Atkinson.
Beloved husband of Philomena (Maher) Atkinson of Merlin.
Loving father of Becky Bannister of Belle River, Ronny Atkinson Jr. of Chatham, Neal Bannister of Belle River and Charlie Atkinson of Chatham.
Sadly missed by grandchildren, Devin and Spencer Newham, Kennedy and Iyla Bannister and Dorian and Carson Atkinson.
Dear brother of Larry (Judy) Atkinson of Blenheim, Tim (Lori) Atkinson and Amber (Paul) Hoy both of Merlin.
Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and the Maher clan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Ron to Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated.
