Obituary of Marinus 'Mike' Louwerse

LOUWERSE: Marinus 'Mike' -

A resident of Chatham, Mike Louwerse passed away peacefully at the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown with his family at his side on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the age of 91.

Born in S'Heerarendskerke, The Netherlands on September 22, 1926, Mike was the son of the late Cornelis and Jacoba (Tange) Louwerse.

Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Grada (nee Veldboom) (2016).

Dear father of the late Jack Louwerse (Terry) of Ridgetown, Bernard Louwerse (Ann) of Chatham, Margaret Louwerse (Jacques Boudreau) of London, Caroline Buis (Ron) of Aylmer, Grace Verbeek (Ron) of Ridgetown and Marsha Brouwer (Art) of Chatham Township.

Proud Grandpa of 23 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 19 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by his siblings Maatje Martijn and Hannes and Case DeVoogd. Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and the extended family.

Mike had a passion for woodworking, and generously gave away his works of art to his family and friends. He loved his fruit trees, his garden and his feathered friends. He was a good listener and together with his wife encouraged others. He was a longtime member of the Christian Labour Association and the First Christian Reformed Church.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at First Christian Reformed Church, 25 Tweedsmuir Ave East, Chatham at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 2, 2018 with Pastor Nate Van Denend officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.

Donations made in memory of Mike to the Right to Life Kent (Refuge), Mission Thrift Store (Chatham) or First Christian Reformed Church (Friendship) would be appreciated.
