It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Oscar Edward Delrue. Oscar passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on Friday, June 29, 2018.
True love and best friend to Joann Delrue (nee VanRaay), amazing father to Cyriel Delrue (Cheryl Shillington), Shelley Delrue-James (Terry James) & Connie Delrue-Brazeau (Jeff Brazeau). Out of this world grandfather to the late Kyle James, Tyler James (Carlee Cook-Myers), Brock James, Joshua and Zoe Delrue, Katie and Kara Shillington and Elise Brazeau.
Oscar was born to the late Cyriel & Zoe Delrue on September 5, 1938 in Chatham. Oscar leaves behind his siblings - George & Madeline Delrue, Gerard & Eileen Delrue, Doreen (nee Delrue) & Gary Warwick and Brenda Delrue & Tim McDowell and many nieces & nephews.
A proud farmer in Chatham-Kent for 60+ years, Oscar was well known and respected by everyone in his community. He was a wicked euchre player and could tear up the dance floor. He enjoyed playing baseball, tennis, golf and being surrounded by family and friends. He loved laughing, his dogs, and having a good time.
His greatest success in life was his wife, kids & grandchildren. He would move heaven & earth for any of us. No matter what was going on - good or bad - we knew that Dad/Gramps/Oscar would always be there. The memories he gave us will be carried in our hearts forever.
Oscar was a true gentleman, a role model to many. He was caring, giving and selfless. To us, Oscar/Dad made the world a better place.
Family to receive friends on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 pm & 7:00-9:00 pm. Vigil Prayers to take place at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at Immaculee Conception Catholic Church, 24156 Winter Line Road, Pain Court at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in Immaculee Conception Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Oscar may be made to CNIB and to the Canadian Cancer Society.
