SONNEVELD: Janke "Joan" (nee Nauta) -

A resident of Blenheim, Joan Sonneveld passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Monday, July 30, 2018 at the age of 87. Born in Surhuizum, The Netherlands, Joan was the daughter of the late Jacob and Wieske (Houwink) Nauta.

Beloved wife of the late Gus Sonneveld (2014). Loving mother of Gus and Dina Sonneveld of Aylmer, Jack (2016) and Shelley Sonneveld of Chatham, Ruth Ann and Bryan Shoemaker of Aylmer, Henry and Darlene Sonneveld of Blenheim, Ben and Mary Jo Sonneveld of Blenheim, Wesley Sonneveld of Chatham, Wilma and Richard Wright of Ridgetown, Juliana and Kevin Salvadori of California. Proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her grandson Rob Shoemaker (2017).

Sister of Ronnie (2013) (John) Timmermans; Hilda (Peter, 2016) Berghuis; Clara (Henk) Woudenberg; Ruth (Hunter, 2011) Oden; Abe (2013) (Hillie) Nauta; John (Hermina) Nauta; Ralph (Margaret) Nauta; Catherine (Marius, 2012) Verbeek; Diana (1989) (Gerald, 1992) Gracie; Richard (2001) (Marie) Nauta; Jake (1999) (Lisa) Nauta; and Harry Nauta (2008).

Joan is survived by her two sisters-in-law Pieternella and Wilhelmina of The Netherlands and predeceased by her brother-in-law, Ben Sonneveld (2011).

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at the First Reformed Church, 632 Lacroix Street, Chatham, on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Rev. John Kapteyn officiating. Private family interment to follow at Pardoville-Union Cemetery.
