Obituary of Beverley Summers

A former resident of Chatham, Bev Summers passed away at the Bluewater Health, Sarnia on September 13, 2018 at the age of 82, reuniting with his wife and son. 

Born in Chatham, Bev was the son of the late Norman and Lettie (nee Hales) Summers. 

Beloved husband of the late Anna (nee Bell - 2013)

Loving father of Mary Lou & her husband, John Wright, of Petrolia and the late Wayne Summers (1965).  

Grandfather of Greg & Heather Wright of Petrolia.

Brother of Betty Jane Humphrey of London.

Brother-in-law of Dr. Ken & Mary Lou Bell of Wallaceburg; Frances & Joe Longe of Blenheim; Ron & Gail Bell of Burlington; Jayne & Jim Smith of Kent Bridge and the late Audrey Garvey (2006). 

Also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Bev retired in 1990 after 35 years as a Construction Tech 3 Supervisor for the Ministry of Transportation. He was an avid golfer, traveled to many places with Anna and spent many winters at their residence in Florida. In his younger years, he had an avid hockey career as a goal tender with the Chatham Maroons & Blenheim teams. He later coached minor & midget hockey here in Chatham. 

Family to receive friends on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service in memory of Bev will be held on Monday at the Funeral Home for 11:00 am. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
