Obituary of Margaret Ann Shillington

SHILLINGTON: Margaret Ann (Krause) -

Passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice with her family at her side on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the age of 80.

Born in Orford Township, Marg was the daughter of the late Bruce and Mary (Kerr) Krause.

Beloved wife of 57 years to Bill.

Loving mother of Kristy Shillington, Jacki Blunn (Clive) and Jane Barnes (Rob).

Proud grandmother of Brittney Cheney (fiance Derek Brown), Matthew Blunn, Carley Blunn, Shawna Blunn (Mario Naclerio) and Dylan Barnes.

Dear sister to Helen Martin (late Jerry) of Rondeau, Jack Krause (Pam) of Windsor, Mary Ellen Namtu (Wayne) of Blenheim. Sister-in-law to Sharon Krause of Rondeau and Jack Shillington (Elaine) of Chatham. Predeceased by brother Donald Krause and brother-in-law Don Shillington.

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Born and raised on a farm near Duart, Marg attended Duart Public School and Ridgetown High School. Following graduation from Windsor Metropolitan Hospital School of Nursing, she nursed in Toronto before becoming a full-time mother and along with Bill, they raised their three daughters (the loves of their lives) in Toronto, Georgetown, London and finally Rondeau. She was an active member of the London Curling Club (Club Champ in the 70's), the Golden Acres Curling Club in Blenheim and a 20 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 185 Blenheim. Most recently, she enjoyed playing shuffleboard in Chatham and Blenheim.

She loved to watch her grandchildren participate in their sporting activities and attended whenever possible. She was their #1 fan. It was her top priority to support them and was immensely proud of their achievements (Win or Lose). She loved euchre (and banging the table triumphantly when she stole a trick). Marg and Bill enjoyed 15 winters in Naples, Florida where they met many lifelong friends. There, she loved playing the card game Hand and Foot daily by the pool.

A Celebration of Marg's Life will be held at Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club, 439 Chatham St S, Blenheim on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Memories will be shared at 2:00 pm.

Cremation has taken place with a private family interment to be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim at a later date. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at the CKHA and the Hospice, Dr. Martha Clendenning and Dr. Tom Burgess for all of their care and compassion.
