Obituary of Cheryl Bondy

Bondy, Cheryl Ann (nee Hartley)

A resident of Chatham, Cheryl Bondy passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham Campus in her 59th year. 

Cheryl was the daughter of Marion Hartley (nee Gordon) of Chatham & the late Lloyd Hartley. 
Beloved wife of 40 years to Greg Bondy.

Loving mother of Amanda (Manda) Hartley (nee Bondy), and her husband David, of Toronto. 
Grammy of Jolie, Lily, Jack & Jonah. 

Sister of the late Marlene Edwards (the late Brian), Heather Tremblay (the late Fred), Patricia Lecocq (Gary) & David Hartley (Kelly).

Missed by many nieces & nephews. 

Daughter-in-law of Anne Bondy (the late William) of Chatham and Ray & Veronica Gould of Belle River.

Sister-in-law of Paul Bondy (Ruth), the late Chris Gould (Robin) & Maria Fraumeni.

Cheryl was a devoted wife, mom & grandmother. In Manda’s early years, Cheryl was actively involved in everything Manda participated in including dance, sports, school and Manda’s friends & neighbourhood friends. Her home was kids central & was always open to whoever may have needed it. She was a very talented seamstress, baker and displayed her artistic abilities in everything she did. Cheryl extended that into her grandmotherhood, passing on her skills of baking, crafts & an active imagination to her grandchildren. In the last 3 years, Cheryl was uniquely courageous & formidable with her battle with cancer.

 
Cheryl worked as a homemaker for the Red Cross for 12 years and with Bingo Country for 7 years as an aid in the kitchen. She started her passion of working with the Chatham Scouts, at the age of 16,  and was with them for over 40 years and as of late, was a Group Commissioner with Scouts of Chatham for the last 9 years. She was actively involved with the Beaver Colony and hands on involved with every aspect of the Scouts. Cheryl also volunteered with the Chatham Railway Museum, working Bingo alongside Greg. It was a passion of hers to help her family & community and she will be deeply missed. 

Family to receive friends on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 pm & 7:00-9:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow. 

Donations may be made in memory of Cheryl to the Canadian Cancer Society.
