Dear friends and family of Jennifer,
Jennifer and I worked together at Met. hospital back in the 1990's. I was so inspired by her kind heart, positive attitude, warm smile, and intelligent sense of humor. I'll never forget the time she "set me up" with a scary practical joke that involved others in the housekeeping dept. that I was working in. It was sometimes expected at the time for us to be paged by the switchboard operator (Jenn) to go down to clean the morgue. That evening, (on afternoons) Jenn paged my name to go down to clean that area. When I went down there, no one was around so I looked around and checked out what had to be cleaned. When I got to the walk-in fridge, I opened the huge door to have a look inside. On the stretcher inside the fridge was a body under a white sheet which was not uncommon. Just as I was about to close the door, the body began to SIT UP! It was a co-worker of mine who scared the heck out of me as he pretended to be a deceased person under that sheet! When I got back upstairs, Jenn was having a great laugh at that one! She was an awesome person though, and she'd do anything for anyone. She had inner strength and determination that most people do not. She had a lot of love and kindness to share. Jenn had a lot of strong opinions regarding the world and society in general. She had a lot of courage and I deeply respect her for not compromising her values on many aspects of life.
I was in contact with Jenn towards the end of her time with us through private messages on Facebook. I reached out to her regarding faith based issues, and I gave her the phone number at my church. I'm good friends with the Church of the Ascension clergy there. I feel the need to state that God loves each person (more in a moment than any human could in a lifetime) and we as "people", should love everyone as well. The clergy at my church have helped my family and I through many storms in life, and I thought Jenn might have some questions she'd like to have answers to. I don't know if she phoned the church or not, but she was thankful that I sent her the information as recently as Tuesday Dec. 11. Some Christians are quick to "condemn" people who don't accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in this life. I like to subscribe with the opinion of my Reverend when he says that he likes to think when we face Jesus on our "day of judgement" that he gives us all one last chance to accept or reject him. For anyone who has doubts about being "saved" at the last minute, I invite them to read the parable of the prodigal and his brother (Luke 15:11-32). I pray that Jennifer would have accepted Jesus when she finally got to meet him face to face. I also like to believe that Jennifer is now enjoying the new and eternal body that God has promised to create for us all in Heaven as is described in the Bible (2 Corinthians 5). As well, I also like to believe that this isn't "goodbye forever", but only "goodbye for now". Jesus said that all believers will see their loved ones again in Heaven (John 14:2-3), and I like to believe I'll see Jennifer again when I get there. I'd like to close now with one of my favorite pieces of Bible Scripture; (That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." - 1 Corinthians 2:9). May the peace and love of Jesus Christ be with you all. God bless.
