Obituary of Kirk Robert Smith

SMITH: Kirk Robert -

Suddenly at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Friday, December 21, 2018, Kirk Robert Smith of Rondeau Bay Estates.

He is survived by his loving wife Cathy Chiasson Smith, beloved children Austin (Leanne) and Heather (Ryan). Kirk was proud Pappa to Sophia, Jackson and Bennett Hardy and was looking forward to the March 2019 birth of a new grandson Smith. Kirk also leaves behind his rescue flat-coats Shelley and Maxx, and much-loved sister Kim Paine and in-laws Jane and Clay McPherson, and several beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.

Kirk was predeceased by his father Elwood 'Woody' Smith, mother Marjorie Moss and loved stepdaughter Katie Chiasson Smith.

Kirk was an avid Mopar enthusiast, famous in club circles for going on a road trip and returning with a new wreck to work on (Future classic he'd say).

Newly retired, Kirk turned his attention to fishing, boating, golfing and motor scooters. 'Scooter Merlot' and friends could be seen zipping around the neighbourhood frequently this past summer.

Please join us for a Celebration of Kirk's Life at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 243, Ridgetown on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. All are invited to share a story or a memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Foundation of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, MS Society, the C-K Animal Rescue or a charity of your choice. Kirk believed in paying it forward, please perform a kindness in his name.

Special thanks to all medical and support staff at the CKHA Trauma Unit, paramedics, fire department and Officer Neal of CK Police. Your thoughtfulness and many kindnesses were much appreciated by the family.
