Rota, Carlo 

A resident of Chatham, Carlo Rota peacefully passed away surrounded by family at Meadow Park Nursing Home, Chatham on Monday, February 4, 2019 in his 79th year.

Carlo was the son of the late Servelo & Angela Rota.

Beloved husband of 58 glorious years to Emilia Rota (nee Trento).

Loving father of Eddy Rota (Lillian), Angela Rota (James Walker), Patrizia Louzon (Dwayne) and the late Marino Rota (1995). 

Nonno of Joseph, Robert, the late Victoria (1995), Trenton, Emilia, Marino, Ashley, Colin, Baylee & Devon.

Brother of Bruno Rota (Linda), Edward Rota (Vivian) & Nevia Duncius (the late Ron). Predeceased by siblings, Milana Olic, Maria Peruzzo (the late Mario) & Vili Rota. 

Survived by brother-in-law, Nado Olic, & sister-in-law, Josie Rota. 

Missed by nieces, nephews & extended family in BC, Australia, & Italy. 

Carlo & his family immigrated from Italy to Chatham in 1959 to start a new life, new language and start a family. Carlo & Emilia married on July 15th, 1961 and raised four beautiful children who raised families of their own. In 1961, Carlo started his own company and was the proud owner of Universal Flooring for over 23 years. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, & a proud committee member of the Lega Istriana of Chatham. He enjoyed hunting with his brother Bruno & friends, and spending time with family. 

Family to receive friends on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 3:00 - 5:00 & 7:00 -9:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 1:30 pm at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 180 Wellington Street, Chatham. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery. 

In memory of Carlo, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to the Children's Treatment Center.
