Louis, a resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 9th, with family by his side, at Riverview Gardens at the age of 85.
Louis was raised in Tilbury, the son of the late Eugenie (nee Dozois) and Wilfred Daigneault.
He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Linda (nee Jordan). A loving father to Anita Sayer (Tim), Scott Daigneault (Tricia) and Charles Daigneault (Marcia). A proud grandfather to Henry, Emma, Theodore and step-grandfather to Jennica. A dear brother to Jim (Ron) and brother-in law of, Charlene Doyle (late Murray), Richard Jordan (Betty), Ken Jordan (Annette) and Terry Jordan (Karen). Predeceased by his brother, Richard and survived by sister-in-law, Gerta. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Louis retired from Bell Canada after 35 years of service. He had a passion for hockey, golf, cooking, traveling with his wife and friends. Hockey led him to be active in managing, coaching and an Executive on the Chatham Minor Hockey Board. He was a member of the St. Ursula Parish and actively involved with the Knights of Columbus. Louis will always be remembered for his smile, sense of humour and a talent for telling a great story.
The Daigneault family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the 3 West staff of Riverview Gardens Nursing Home for their continual care and compassion for Louis.
Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home with Deacon Jerry Lozon officiant. Cremation to take place with Private Family Interment at a later date.
In memory of Louis, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer Society or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
