Obituary of Dr. George Zeleney

Zeleney, George (Jurij) Jaroslav, DDS, of Rondeau, passed away at Victoria Hospital, London, on February 12, 2019, at the age of 75.

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, to the late Rostyslav and Irene Zeleney (nee Bodnar).

Loving husband of Nina (nee Panaseiko) for 52 years.

Beloved father of Andrew Jaroslav Zeleney of Clawson, Michigan, and Adriana Maria Zeleney (Olaf Bulmahn) of Guelph.

Dido of David Jaroslav Zeleney and Georgia Anastasia Bulmahn.

Brother of Anne Sanford (David) of Durham, North Carolina, and Didi Zeleney of Toronto.

Brother-in-law of Nick Panaseiko of London.

Close cousin of Andrew Popadiuk (Slawka) of Carmel, California, Duzia Popadiuk (Arnie Moodenbaugh) of Long Island, and Leo Zeleney (Diane) of Windsor. 

Will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Dr. Zeleney practised dentistry in Ridgetown from 1969 until his retirement in 2018. He was Past President of the Ukrainian National Federation -- Windsor Branch. In his spare time he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, enjoyed woodworking in his shop, loved fishing in his boat on Lake Erie, had a passion for bridge, and was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan.

Memorial visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East, Ridgetown, on Friday, February 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from  7 to 9 p.m.

A Divine Liturgy and Panakhyda for George will be held at St. Vladimir & Olga Church, 601 Lake Trail Drive, Windsor, Ontario, on Monday, February 18, 2019, at 10 a.m., with reception to follow in the church hall.

Donations in memory of George may be made to the Windsor Branch of the Ukrainian National Federation or the charity of your choice.
