Brown, Leon Harry "Lee"

Lee, a resident of Copper Terrace Nursing Home, Chatham, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the CKHA - Chatham Campus at the age of 93.

He was born in Chatham on June 20, 1925 and was the son of the late Harold Wesley and Ella Mae Brown. 

Beloved husband for 69 years of the late Audrey Jean (Marriott) Brown (2017). 

Loving father of Mark (the late Bonnie) Brown, Leigh (the late Jennifer) Brown, Brenda Appel (Robb Phipps), Peter (Donna) Brown and Judy (Brian) Girard.  

Sadly missed by 11 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. 

Dear brother of  John (Marg) Brown and brother-in-law of  Donna Brown.

Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by an infant son, Grant, his sisters, Inez Robertson, Lucy (John) Dutton, Ferna Le Groulx, Wilma Corriveau and his twin sister, Letty (Harry) Haring and his brother, Albert Brown. 

Lee was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Canadian 5th Division and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 628 in Chatham. He was a member of the Salvation Army in Chatham, and had retired as a Mason Contractor. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed gardening, watching westerns on TV, reading, going for coffee with friends, playing cards and visiting with his family. He was a wonderful family man, who will be sadly missed but fondly remembered with lots of happy memories. 

Cremation has taken place.

The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON, on  Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 1-3 p.m, with the Funeral Service to follow, with Rev. Jim Kettle, officiating.

Private family interment will be held at a later date.
