Obituary of Dan Nelligan

NELLIGAN, Dan - A resident of Merlin, Dan Nelligan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 68. Born in London, son of Joseph Nelligan (2005) and Noreen (Oatridge).  Joined in heaven with his beloved wife Janet (Fawcett) (2013).  Loving father to Jennifer Schiller (Jeremy), Patrick (Jill), and Mike. Loving Grandpa to Paul, Ryan, Julia, and Jack.  Devoted  brother to Joanne (Rick), Cathy (Garth), Steve (Nancy), and Tom (Barb).  Dear brother-in-law to Ellen (Alex) Hughes, Bruce (Rita) Fawcett, and John (Cathé) Fawcett.    He will be missed by his nieces and nephews Dan, Luke, Jessica, Jacob, Frazer, Alana, Kenzie, Bridget, Rachael, Kathy, Auralee, Melanie, Andy, and Ariel.   

Dan followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather working for Canadian National Railway and retired after 30 years.  He spent his retirement years doing the things he enjoyed like riding his motorcycle, spending time with his family, dinners with his friends, and at his favourite coffee shop and auto repair place.  He will be missed by so many of his friends.  He will also be missed by his pets who held a special place in his heart. 

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street Chatham on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Wednesday. Cremation to follow with a private family interment to be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham at a later date. Special thanks to Dr. Matsusaki and the team for their wonderful care over the years. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chatham-Kent Animal Rescue or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
