VanTil, Harry
A resident of Chatham, Harry VanTil passed away with his family by his side at Riverview Gardens on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in his 90th year. He went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
“To live is Christ and to die is gain.(Phil. 1:21)”.
Born March 18 1930, he was the son of the Hendrik and Tryntje (nee Wolters) VanTil.
Beloved husband of the late Bea (nee Lautenbach, 2014).
Loving father of Teresa Petrusma and her husband Edward of Belleville, & Henry VanTil and his wife Joanne of Blenheim.
Cherished Grandpa of Bethany VanderDeen (Dave), Janelle Petrusma, Leanna Petrusma (Steven Nightingale, fiancée), Jeremy Petrusma, Matthew VanTil, Ryan VanTil, Courtney VanTil, Kristen VanTil, Laura VanTil & Hudson VanTil.
Precious Great-grandpa of Leah, Richard & Jonathan VanderDeen.
Brother of the late Gerrit VanTil (the late Janny), the late Gail Aukema (the late Evert), Janny Postma (the late Wiebe) & Marten VanTil (Stien).
Cherished brother-in-law to Wilma Pereboom (John). Predeceased by his sister-in-laws, Jetty Lutgendorf (the late Siebe) & Aafje Meijers (the late Dick).
Missed by many nieces, nephews & special friends.
Harry farmed in the Blenheim area since1960 and was a member of Blenheim Christian Reformed Church and Grace Christian Reformed Church, Chatham, serving as a Deacon for many years. He was a member of the Christian Farmers Federation and an avid supporter of the Christian schools. For many years,Harry & Bea participated in various volunteer opportunities, including Disaster Relief, Wycliffe Bible Translators and spent many years volunteering weekly with Bibles for Missions Thrift Store. He was always willing to help out if there was a need.
Family to receive friends on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 255 Tweedsmuir Ave West, Chatham from 10:00 am until a Service for Harry at 12:00 pm. Burial to take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
In memory of Harry, donations may be made to World Renew or to Chatham Christian Schools.
