Jake was born in Barendrecht, The Netherlands, he immigrated to Canada in 1951. He began his life as a farm hand before embarking on a career as a stationary engineer. He worked for Libbys foods and Union Gas before taking his skills to healthcare at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga and St. Joseph's, Chatham.
He loved to share his knowledge and skills with others. He taught stationary engineering at St. Clair College Chatham. He was a true handy man always willing to help his neighbours and family. A gift and memory of him they will always have.
