Obituary of Robert Douglas Dodge

DODGE: Robert Douglas 'Bob -

A resident of Chatham, Bob Dodge passed away suddenly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the age of 85.

Born in Windsor, Bob was the son of the late Kevin and Margaret (Gourley) Dodge.

Beloved husband of 43 years to Joyce (nee Remington).

Dear father to Kevin Dodge (Leil) of New Zealand, Kenneth Dodge (Deb) of Guelph, Brian Dodge (Diane) of London, Karen Kelloway (Neil) of Mt. Pearl, NL, Shelley Baker (Roger) of St. John's, NL, Chris Bancroft (Karen) of London and Dennis Dodge of Tilbury.

Proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Brother to Helen Anderson and Patricia Atkin. Predeceased by his siblings Margaret Bevridge, Marion Tiegs, John Dodge and Charles Dodge.

Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Bob served in the Navy during the Korean War, where he underwent his electrical training. From there, he worked as an electrician, joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #773. He was an active spokesperson for the Union and was also very involved in politics as a local campaign manager. He retired as an electrician after over 36 years of service. He also participated as a layminister fro St. Paul's Congregational Church, having been a founding member. He also worked within the prison ministry, helping there for 25 years. He will be remembered for always looking out for the little guy.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, May 10, 2019 with Rev. Dr. Margaret Moriyama officiating. Cremation to follow.
