A resident of Chatham, Ian Tilley passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at the age of 84.
Born in Toronto, Ian Tilley was the son of the late Frank and Fanny (nee MacNab) Tilley.
Beloved husband of 62 years to Ann (nee Freeland).
Loving father of Mark (Elizabeth) Tilley of Kingston, Lynn Tilley of Chatham, & Leah (Dean) Pilgrim of Guelph.
Fun-loving Grandpa of Sarah, Mark, Luke, Isaac, Catherine and Hannah.
Brother of the late Ballington Tilley & the late Hubert Tilley.
Brother-in-law of Robert Freeland, Susan Ingram, & Carol Wright.
Remembered by his 6 nieces & 4 nephews.
He will be missed by many friends & extended family.
Ian was the proud founder, along with his friend the late Victor Martin, of Martin-Tilley & Company Chartered Accountant and Management Consultants where he made friends with many of his clients. He was an active member of the Salvation Army Church - Chatham where he served for over 30 years. He played E Flat Horn in various Salvation Army bands for over 70 years. Ian loved to travel to the family cottage in Muskoka and enjoyed spending time boating on the lake.
Family to receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2019 at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Thanksgiving Service of Ian's life will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Salvation Army Church, 46 Orangewood Blvd, Chatham at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Reynolds as officiant with one hour of visitation prior to the Service.
Donations made in memory of Ian to the Salvation Army Family Services or to the Alzheimer's Society - Chatham- Kent would be appreciated.
