Obituary of Stephen Sinden

A resident of Chatham, formerly of Pickering, Stephen Sinden passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Friday, June 7, 2019 in his 84th year after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born July 19, 1935 in England, he was the son of the late William & Hannah (nee Shipley) Sinden. 

Beloved husband of 59 years to Joan (nee Benson).

Devoted father of Christine Sinden of Chatham & Gary Sinden. 

Remembered always by his grandson, Andrew Sinden. 

Brother of the late William (Bill) Sinden & the late Mildred Lawson, both of Hartlepool, England.

Missed by his nieces, Sandra Greenwell (nee Lawson) (Steve), Theresa Sinden, Rosemary Sinden, Lynne Whyte (nee Benson), Lori Benson, Liz Benson, Heather McFarlane (nee Benson), Stephanie Benson, Ashley Zimmer (nee Benson), Lisa Benson, great-nieces, Louise Greenwell, Laura Wintersgill (nee Greenwell), Sarah Lawson, Macy Wintersgill, Sydnee Nolan, Meghan Whyte, Reagan McFarlane, Hillary McFarlane, and nephews, Les Lawson (Shona), the late Jeff Lawson, Ryan Benson & great-nephews, Alex Whyte, Evan Clarke, Owen Clarke, Liam Zimmer, Sonny Wintersgill, & Jack Wintersgill.


Brother-in-law of Martin Benson (Lisa), Graham Benson (Darlene), Malcolm Benson (Judy), & the late Eric Benson (Sheila).

Stephen served with the British Armed Forces in Germany before returning to England. He immigrated with his family in 1966 and settled in Chatham, before moving east Oshawa. He retired at 65 years old from Gillette & Braun after 30 years as a Regional Salesman. Stephen enjoyed watching soccer, singing & playing music and spending time with family. He was a carpenter by trade and would spend his free time building all sorts of heavy furniture. He had a great love for photography and was always taking photos of his family and garden. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and especially by his dog, Bella, who never left his side. 

In keeping with Stephen's wishes, cremation has taken place.
