Obituary of Dorothy Gilbert
A resident of Ridgetown, Dorothy Gilbert passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Blenheim Community Village on July 25, 2019 at the age of 95.
Born in Ridgetown, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Percy and Winnifred (Taggart) Field.
Beloved wife of 61 years to the late George W. Gilbert.
Survived by children, Marcia Gilbert of Ridgetown, Vickie (Ron) Mandeno of Ridgetown, and Don (Nancy) Gilbert of Blenheim.
Loving grandmother to Heather Pleizier (Marlon), Erin Pleizier (Samir), Alyssa Pleizier (Paul), Jennifer (John) Nixon, Lindsay (Brett) Pettitt, Becky (Jeremy) Mann, Sean Mandeno, Carrie Gilbert (Jeremy) and great grandmother to 14 great grandkids.
Survived by sister in laws Fern Goodal (the late Bernard Goodal and late Bud Field), Helen Field (the late Jack), Jean Martin (the late Paul).
Predeceased by 13 siblings Gertrude, Leo, Genevieve, Gerry, Eugene, Polly, Jack, Raymond, Margaret, Bud, Carl, Donnie, and Ronnie.
Dorothy was known in the Ridgetown community for her amazing baking talents (particularly her pecan tarts). During the Christmas season, many families and businesses would receive and enjoy a platter of her Christmas cookies. Often delivered by her husband George dressed as Santa Claus.
Visitation will take place at McKinlay Funeral Home on 76 Main St. E. in Ridgetown ON, on Sunday July 28, 2019 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 7:00pm - 9:00pm with Vigil prayers and a CWL service at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 95 Marlborough St. N. in Blenheim ON, Monday at 11:00am with Father John Juhl officiating.
Interment to take place at Evergreen Cemetery following the Funeral Mass.
