Gopelle, Helen Jean (Earley) (nee Beattie)
1924 - 2019
We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Helen Gopelle who passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home.
She was the daughter of the late James A. & Hazel (nee Chrysler) Beattie.
Beloved wife of 44 years to the late Tom Earley (1986) and wife of the late Serge Gopelle (1998).
Loving mother of Jennifer Morris (James) of Kingsville, Marcia Relouw (Jerry) of Sarnia, Stephen Earley (Fran) of Chatham and Robin Tipping (Chris) of Chatham.
Grandmother of Peter Golinsky (Christine), Jordan Butkovich (Stephen), Elizabeth Sandstedt (Jacob), Stephanie Copeland (Jeff Maher), Emily Copeland, Jillian Hurley (Shane), Erin Vandersluis (Scott), Kate Earley, and Hilary Renders (Derek).
Great-grandmother of Ben, Sam, Mitch, Madison, Sophia, Merrick, Olivia, Isabelle, Nolan, Lauren, Paige and Emma.
Predeceased by her siblings, William Beattie (Jeanne), Dorothy Beck (Harold) and Albert Beattie.
Survived by sister-in-law, Pat Beattie, and Mary Jane Grastatis (nee Earley).
Missed by many nieces, nephews & extended family.
Helen was an avid bridge player and enjoyed going to the Active Lifestyle Centre. She loved traveling much of the world and enjoyed wintering in Florida. She volunteered many hours at the Public General Hospital.
Family to receive friends on Thursday, August 1st, 2019 at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 10:30 am until the Service Time at 11:30 am. Burial of ashes to take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
In memory of Helen, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
