Obituary of Shirley Jean Phyllis Davis

DAVIS: Shirley Jean Phyllis (Youlton) -

A resident of the Oaks Retirement Residence, and formerly of Mitchell's Bay, Shirley Jean Phyllis Davis passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus surrounded by her family on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the age of 85.

Born in London, Ontario, Shirley was the daughter of the late Robert and Eva (King) Youlton.

Beloved wife of 31 years to Larry Davis.

Loving mother of Sherry Perritt (Gary) of Strathroy and Sue Larsh (Stan) of Ingersoll. Step-mother to Louise Mills (Ron) of Courtright, Sue McFadden (Paul) of Tupperville and Pat Parrish (Scott) of Mitchell's Bay area.

Dear Grandma to Kim Lam (Russ), Crista Glavin (Shaun), Mandy Primeau, Brock Larsh, Curtis Larsh, Amy Mitchell (Dave), Debbie Roy (Jerry), Kelly Mills (Al Vuotari), Dan McFadden (Ariane), Nicki Gagen (Jeff), Beth Gagnier (Jeff) and Heather Dobratz (Jordan).

Great-Grandma to 14 great-grandchildren.

Sister to Terry Youlton (Mary) of Ridgetown. Sister-in-law to Bill Humphrey of Windsor. Predeceased by her sister Barbara Humphrey and brother Gordon Youlton (late Helen).

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Shirley moved to Chatham from Bothwell in 1972. She was employed at the Chatham Daily News until 1974 and then employed by Union Gas Ltd. until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of Grace Christian Congregational Church, where she participated in the Quilter's Group and a former member of the Union Gas Golden Genies. Shirley was the Past President of the E.C.W.U. at the Union Gas Riverview Service Centre.

Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 3:00 - 5:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Shirley's Life will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 with Rev. Jim Kettle officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at Purcell-McLean Cemetery at a later date.
