TUNKS-GALBRAITH: Joan (nee Ermers) -
A resident of Ridgetown, Joan Tunks-Galbraith passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with her husband and children present on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the age of 63.
Born in Chatham, Joan was the daughter of the late Theo and Mary (Morlog) Ermers and daughter-in-law to Catherine (Reeves) Galbraith and the late Ivan Galbraith.
Beloved wife and best friend of 29 years to Darrell.
Loving mother of Steve Tunks (Helen) of Simcoe, Darrell Galbraith, Jr. (Diane) of London and Crystal Stienburg (Ryan) of Sault Ste. Marie.
Proud 'Gramma Joan' to Cody, Hayden, twins Aubrey and Avery; Kaia, Simon; River, Meadow and Winter.
Dear sister to Anne Johnson (Gary Chinnick), Kathy Owen (Jim), twin brother John Ermers (Bernie), Ed Ermers (Christie), Mario Ermers (Mary) and Angela Pinsonneault.
Sister-in-law to Dan Galbraith (Nancy), Darlene Trudgen (Jim), Dale Galbraith (Colleen), Dennis Galbraith (Linda) and Dean Galbraith (Patti).
Predeceased by brothers-in-law Paul Johnson and Eric Pinsonneault.
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, extended family, customers and golf buddies.
Joan was a hairdresser in Ridgetown for most of her 47 year career. She was a proud member of the Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club, and a member of the former Ridgetown Kinettes Club. She loved going to the casino with her girlfriends and going golfing with her husband and her friends. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed her talks and taking trips with her sisters and her girlfriends, including adventures to Mexico, Atlantic City, Vegas and Reno.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Cremation to follow with a Private Family Service to be held at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Joan to the Canadian Diabetes Association and Trillium Gift of Life Network would be appreciated. Joan saved two lives herself and the family would appreciate you updating your donor cards. Special thanks to the ER staff and the ICU Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. They made everyone feel comfortable and they went over and above the call of duty.
