Obituary of Timothy Patrick Flanagan

FLANAGAN: Timothy Patrick - A resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Saturday January 18th, 2020, at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 63. Tim was born in Chatham, son of the late Catherine Flanagan (Cartier), and Robert Flanagan. Beloved husband of 33 years to Judy Flanagan (Van De Hogen) and loving father of three children, Shawn Flanagan and girlfriend (Jennifer Dunlop), Ryan Flanagan and wife (Natasha Flanagan), Sarah Flanagan and fiancé (David O’Neil). Dear brother of Mike Flanagan (Dede) the late Linda Lucier, Kevin Flanagan (Kevin Banger) and Jamie McMahon (Nancy). Brother-in-law to Dan Lucier. Predeceased by In-laws Joe and Helen Van De Hogen. Dear brother-in-law of Bob Van De Hogen, Nancy Havens (Richard), Wayne Van De Hogen (Kathi). Also missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Tim retired in May 2019 after 40 years working in health care and maintenance for Thamesview Lodge/ Riverview Gardens. Master Tim achieved his 5th degree black belt at Sun’s Taekwondo in Chatham, where he mentored many students over the past two decades. We will miss him dearly. Tim will be remembered for his easy going, helpful nature and his overall sense of humour. He was a very handy jack-of-all-trades who was never afraid to help with a fix or a renovation. Family and friends are invited to the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St, Chatham, on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ursula’s Catholic Church, 205 Tweedsmuir Ave W, Chatham, on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 10 am with Father Jim Higgins celebrant. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
