Obituary of Claudia Mae Laevens

LAEVENS: Claudia Mae (nee Reaume) - A lifelong resident of Dover Township, Claudia Laevens passed away with her family at her side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the age of 83. Born in Jeannette's Creek, Claudia was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Muriel (Murphy) Reaume. Beloved wife of 61 years to James "Jim" Laevens. Loving mother of Janice McGregor (Ron) of Dover Township and Anita Wilbur (Terry Polyak) of Chatham. Proud grandmother of Rhonda Verleye (Steve Drummond), Jason McGregor (Melissa), Candice Bezaire (Adam), Nicholas McGregor and Wesley Wilbur (Paige Alexander). Great-grandmother "GGma" of Justis, Jaidyn, Julian, Leeland, Brayden, Kylan, Dean, Emery, Olivia and Hayden. Dear sister to Irvin Reaume (Dola) of Jeannette's Creek, Ann Stewart (Larry) of London and Elizabeth Gagnier (Luc) of Tilbury. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Claudia retired as a Personal Financial Senior's Manager for RBC after 34 years of service. She was a member of St. Peter's on the Thames, the IODE, Dover Kinettes, Red Hat Society and the former Royal Canadian Legion, Br. #628 Auxiliary. Following her retirement, Claudia volunteered at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for over 15 years. Claudia was a die-hard Maple Leafs fan and never missed a game. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as boating and vacationing to Florida (her little piece of Heaven). Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Vigil Prayers will be held at 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's on the Thames, 5425 Tecumseh Rd, Tilbury, at 11:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2020. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
