Obituary of Daniel Walsh

WALSH: M. Daniel - A resident of Chatham, Daniel Walsh passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with family at his side on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the age of 77. Born in London, Daniel was the son of the late Melvin Walsh and Willa Walsh-McCord (nee Freedy). Beloved husband of 52 years to Fonda (nee Rapson). Loving father of Kim Hudson (Bill), Kevin Walsh (Lena) and Kurt Walsh (Mary Jane) all of Chatham. Proud Poppa of William, Kirsten, Nicholas, Owen, Dylan, Kayla, Olivia, Mary. Dear brother to Judy Galicinski (Les) and Marilyn Chapman (Ric). Brother-in-law of Margaret Fergusson (Gerry) and Susan Enright (late Richard). Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Daniel and Fonda owned and operated Smyth Memorials Ltd for 23 years before starting their own company, Artistic Designs, which continues to design and cut stencils for the monument industry across North America. He enjoyed classic cars, boating, golfing and travelling. Daniel was the Past Commander of the former Chatham Power Squadron and served on the Board of Directors of the Heritage Credit Union for many years. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 10:00 am until the Celebration of Daniel's Life at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Daniel to the Alzheimer Society or Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
