Obituary of Rod Malott

Malott: Roderick Dwight - A resident of Blenheim, Rod Malott passed away peacefully with Anne at his side at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Friday March 13, 2020 at the age of 78. Born in Chatham, Rod was the son of the late Maurice and Kathleen (Van Bonn) Malott. Beloved husband of 58 years to Anne (nee Kilbride) Malott. Loving father to Kimberley (Jeff) Collins of Woodstock and the late Kevin Malott (2012). Father in law to Simone Malott. Loving grandfather to 5 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Christine Laprise, and brother Garth (Linda) Malott. Brother in law to Janet (Tom) Stobie, Lorraine (Joe) Palocz, and Randy (Debbie) Smith. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Rod spent his career in the Royal Canadian Air Force, (Canadian Armed Forces) for 35 years. While in the military his travels and postings included each province, Bermuda, Greenland, as well as Europe making many friends along the way. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of Canada, coaching junior hockey teams and also was employed by the Corp of Commissionaires and Ron's No Frills. Visitation will take place on Sunday March 15, 2020 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park St. in Blenheim, with a Legion Service be held at 7:00pm. A Private Family Service and Interment will take place on March 16. Donations made in memory of Rod to the Chatham Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
