Obituary of Peter Park

PARK: Peter 1922-2020 On the evening of 16 June 2020, Mr. Peter Park, resident of Ridgetown for over fifty years, passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Chatham. Predeceased by his wife, Christina Park (nee Powrie), he is survived by his two children, Janice Anderson (Michael McGourty) and Derek Park (Nora Park), his two grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson and Matthew Anderson (Debby Aubin), and his two great-grandchildren, Liam Anderson-Aubin and Hailie Anderson-Aubin. Born in Alexandria, Scotland, Peter's first career was as a professional figure skater with Blackpool Ice Follies. Following his retirement from skating he pursued work as a carpenter and in 1963 the family moved to Canada, where Peter attended university and became a high school shop teacher. He taught at Ridgetown District High School for twenty years. Peter will be remembered by many for his great sense of humour, his kindness, and also for his stubbornness. His greatest wish was to end his days in his own house, and despite pressure from family, neighbours and friends to move to a senior's residence, he resisted. The family sincerely thanks all those who made that possible for him. As per Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place. Donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
