Pauline Guest

Obituary of Pauline Guest

Pauline Guest passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens on June 26th, 2020 at the age of 93.  Born in Chatham, Ontario, daughter of the late Virgil & Ella (Chambers) Cooper.  Beloved wife of the late Pinkney Hilliard Guest (1968).  She is predeceased by her sisters Doris Ann Cooper, Virginia O’Neil and Marilyn Terjek; brothers Charles and Virgil Cooper.

Loving mother of Sandra (Allen) Thompson of Dresden, Lynn Guest of Windsor, Elaine (Keith) McCorkle of Chatham and Duwayne (Sylvia) Guest.  Proud grandmother of Trevor (Dayna) Thompson, Steven (Liz) Thompson, Felesha Brutus and Sean (Sabina) Howell.  Great-grandmother of Troy, Enayat, Shelbie, Joshua, Jacob, Justice, Jurnee and Isla as well as her great-great granddaughter Amara.

Pauline will be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Lucille Johnson, and brother-in-law Roger (Linda) Guess of Arizona.

Blessed with an indomitable fighting spirit born of an unshakable faith and trust in God, Pauline’s life became a living testimony to the power and mercy of the Lord, to whom she gave all the credit.  Her heart of gratitude would also constantly sing the praises of her daughters, Sandra, Lynn and Elaine, for always being there when she needed them most. “They”, she said, were her “angels here on earth.”

In departing to be with her Lord, Pauline leaves a long and wonderful legacy of love. With her warm smile, gentle embrace, and endless unconditional love, she joyfully gave the gift of peace to family and friends alike, welcoming one and all into her kind and generous heart.

Pauline took pride in dressing in her Sunday best, keeping her styled, and being a strong, independent woman. And because the wonderful team on the 3rd floor at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, treated her with the utmost dignity, respect and love, that is exactly how she was able to live out her final days.

A Private Service will be held with interment in Dresden Cemetery.

Memorial donations to honour Pauline’s life may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or Chatham Seventh Day Adventist Church.
